Magical Mystery Tour Day 3

…A step back in time on the Isle of Wight.

After a lovely breakfast we headed off to Blackgang Chine, somewhere I visited on my school trip some twenty years earlier.  It’s the UK’s oldest amusement park and while it hadn’t really changed since I had last visited, think lots of fibreglass models, but they have made some modern additions like rides and a water slide that Luka loved. We paid around £20 as Luka went free as an under 4. I’ve seen a few reviews online complaining about the price and I had I spent £100 to go in as a larger family then I may agree with them more but for the price I paid it was definitely worth it for a food few hours running around using our imaginations pretending to be cowboys and doing the dinosaur walk.

With a few hours until we until we had to be back at the ferryport we took a beautiful drive west to Alum Bay and The Needles. I paid £5 to park which I originally thought was a bit much but entry to the Needles was free and upon parking we were given a voucher book which saved us a lot in the long run, as did buying supersaver tickets.

We had a great time, Luka particularly liked the pedal boats and the teacups, as did I as I rode free with him! And the views were just spectacular. Luka was only 3 at the time and didn’t fancy the chairlift but it looked amazing. We really could have done with more time at the attraction so we could have visited the cinema, done the cliff walk and made sweets. If not a whole days worth of activity it’s certainly the vast majority of one so if you go definitely allot a bit of time to make sure you fit everything in.

I truly can’t recommend the Isle of Wight enough for a family holiday, from the beautiful beaches, the fantastic views and the sheer amount of activities on offer for all ages. We’ll definitely be heading back over the Solent at some point soon.

But alas it was time for another trip over the sea and a sad farewell to the beautiful island. After a quick dinner pitstop on the mainline we were headed west to Luka’s favourite place London.
